Cape Cod defines summer family fun and our 8-day get-away will offer you and your children camping, cycling, swimming, a whale watch, beachcombing, and some time left over to make your own fun! You will start in Sandwich and bike along the Cape Cod Canal to Woods Hole, to catch the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard. Ride into Oak Bluffs for fresh seafood one evening and to enjoy the beautiful Victorian charm of this town. The lighthouse in Edgartown is a great stop, too. Canoeing on one of the salt ponds will offer a change from ocean beach swimming and sand castles. The ferry ride to Chatham stops briefly in Nantucket so you wave to everyone on the pier (pretend you’re on the Queen Mary!) then carries you back “on Cape” at Harwichport. This starts a great ride on the bike trails, through Nickerson State Park, stopping for a natural history lesson at the Cape Cod National Seashore, with its phenomenal beaches! We stay at several campgrounds in this area, all family-friendly and with good facilities. How about bicycling to a drive-in movie one night? The exciting whale watch from Provincetown is complete with a naturalist onboard to tell all about the amazing creatures that are just a few feet from the boat. Our van will return you to Sandwich at the end of your trip, to brush the sand off the kids before loading the car (throw out the pail of dead crabs first!) and heading for home.
