DAYS 4-14: biking in the loire valley
This trip includes a rental bike that you will get on your first day in France. Your group will then begin cycling on back roads and bike paths through the beautiful Loire Valley. You'll bike along the shores of meandering rivers and underneath long rows of tall, gently swaying poplars. You'll bike through tiny French villages that haven't changed much in hundreds of years, stopping often to sample the local pastries (frequent quote from trippers - "French pastries are NOT junk food!"). The Loire Valley offers an amazing variety of things to see and do. You'll visit medieval fortresses and castles, explore prehistoric stone remains and Roman ruins, and see a Son et Lumiere performance light up a castle at night. You'll visit the famous cathedral at Chartres, see if you can find 200 chimneys at the chateaux of Chambord, and row under beautiful Chenonceux, the chateau built over a river.

You'll throw coins into the Trevi fountain, climb the Spanish steps, and eat great pasta and cold, delicious gelato (ice cream).
